Jiu Jitsu is an ancient martial art initially created for self defense and war time close quarter combat fighting.

The origin of Jiu Jitsu is well known to have begun in Japan, however, China and other ancient civilizations have similar joint locking techniques (such as Qinna from China and Sambo from Russia) and combat strategies similar to Jiu Jitsu.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu evolved from traditional Jiu Jitsu into a system of ground fighting with a focus on joint locking, chokes, and other submissions.

With Gi training, practitioners can utilize the Gi (Jiu-Jitsu uniform / kimono) for more grip control, lapel chokes, belt control, etc.

We also offer no-gi classes.
